Belfast 2011

            On Sunday, 6th November 2011, Belfast, Northern Ireland, held the fabulous party of the MTV Europe awards 2011. The singer and actress Selena Gomez hosted the ceremony, in which all the winners were awarded.
            Without any doubt, the best artist and the biggest winner of the EMA´s was the always bizarre, Lady Gaga. She won the awards of: best female artist, best song, best video and artist with more fans in the pop world. She didn´t disappoint and appeared in the pink carpet with an atypical dress and an oversized hat which covered her face. She sang in the gala and all the public became “little monsters”, as she calls her fans.
            Other awarded artists were: Justin Bieber (best pop singer and best male artist), Bruno Mars and Thirty Seconds to Mars(best alternative group), Eminem (best hip-hop artist), Linkin Park (best rockers) and Katy Perry, who picked up the trophy of the best live act, but she was the biggest loser because  she only won one of the six awards which she had been nominated for.
            The best of the party were the awesome performances of some international artists. For example, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez´s boyfriend, who sang “ Never say never”; David Guetta, the most famous Dj at the moment; Lady Gaga, who sang from a big moon; Bruno Mars; Red Hot Chili Peppers; Jessie J; LMFAO; Snow Patrol and Queen, who received the global icon award and have been the guests of honour this year. The British band Coldplay was first on stage and opened the EMA´s.
            The most emotive moment was when Jessie J remembered her friend Amy Winehouse, who died four months ago.
            It was an amazing night, with many surprises: balloon release and dry ice, lasers, projections and outlandish clothes which complemented the artists´ performances. Year after year, these awards get to surprise us.

MELENDI PLAYS HIS LATTEST CD

Ramón Melendi (Melendi, his stage name) was born in Oviedo in 1980. He is a Spanish singer and songwriter. When he was child his greatest passion wasn't music, his passion was football and showed a great quality for this sport. He played several years n the team Real Oviedo.

In 2000 he left football and started his career in the music world. He and some friends formed a band called “The Forest of Sherwood”, but finally in 2001 Melendi left the band and began his solo career.
In February 2003, Melendi managed to record their first album solo, called “Sin noticias de Holanda. “

In May 2004 he started a small tour of Spain. This tour was very important because he managed to sell around 50,000 copies and earned a Gold Record.

In 2005 he released his second solo album, titled “Que el cielo nos espere sentado.” which sold over 200,000 copies. In the same year he had his first child, called Carlota. In this second album he included a song dedicated to his daughter, Carlota.

In 2006 he launched his third album “Mientras Nos cueste trabajo.”

In 2007 he received the Award for "Best Tour" by the Music Awards.

In November 12th, 2007 had to declare at court after causing a disturbance for being drunk on a flight bound for Mexico. It was so serious that the airplane commander was forced to return to the starting point after two hours of flying. He was released after testifying.

Shortly after he received “The left foot” which gives the music channel Cadena 100.

In 2008 his fourth album “Curiosa La cara de tu padre”, and thanks to it, he was awarded the top 40

In 2009 he released his fifth album “Aún más curiosa la cara de tu padre.”
And finally he released his lattest album “Volvamos a empezar.”
In 2011 on 19th of November Melendi gave a concert, promoting this album but also sang songs from his other CDs.

The concert was a great success attended by around 7,000 people.

The concert started at 22:00, but many fans waiting for the singer from 10:00 in the morning.
